How do you identify and manage risk beyond campus when your institution of higher education engages with local, regional or state entities? This session for experienced risk managers will focus on the development of partnerships between an institution and other communities within that institution’s geographic ecosystem. It will provide practical advice for using an ERM approach to manage the risks created by such engagement.

Objectives

+ Understand how universities engage with their host communities and broad geographic ecosystem
+ Recognize risks associated at the enterprise level, including impacts on external stakeholders, such as local communities and government
+ Learn how to manage these risks through methods and practices that promote mutual benefits for universities and external stakeholders

Moderator: Sandy Mitchell, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Track: Higher Education Risk
Core Competency: Organizational Engagement
